LICHT LUFT SCHEISSE: Sandra Bartoli + Silvan Linden
“The ecological question is not new. Over a hundred years ago, conceptual models and practices were developed in reaction to increasing industrialization and urbanization, which still resonate with our current ideas of sustainability. These approaches reflected not only a systematic understanding of the interactions between humans and the environment, and between nature and technology, but also the growing awareness of a modernity that is depriving itself of the basis of life”.

Sandra Bartoli and Silvan Linden are the founders of the Büros für Konstruktivismus in Berlin. Together with Florian Wüst they are editors of the books Licht Luft Scheisse – Archaeologies of Sustainability and Licht Luft Scheisse – Über Natur (adocs Hamburg 2020). These publications are the outcome of an ongoing research project exploring an environmental history of architecture. In 2019 two homonymous exhibitions were curated by the trio, taking place in Berlin at the Botanical Garden Museum and the neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK) in 2019. The project was financed by the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Lotto Stiftung.

The event is curated by Lidia Gasperoni, Matthias Böttger and Christophe Barlieb of Fieldstations. In cooperation with the Chair of Architectural Theory (TU Berlin), the talk is part of the DAZ series “We need to talk!”.
